Dad

My Dad celebrates his birthday the day after my brother (lots of April birthdays in our family!).
He loves ships and doesn't like anything 'cute' so when I saw this image I knew it would be perfect for him.
It's by Kanban and the backing sheet was included in the set. I used teal Bazzill to mount it and I needed that stripe down the middle to detract from the patterned card a bit.
The sentiment was done on my computer - I hadn't realised my ink was very low so the colour wasn't quite the right shade but never mind :)

Jelly Bean Heist

There's a little story behind this card.
I have a brother called Richard and (like a lot of men) it's hard to know what to buy him for birthday and Christmas.
One year I bought him a huge jar of Jelly Belly beans and his wife told me he liked them....
Well that was what he started getting for every present every year!
Sometimes I would put a little extra with the jelly beans like a gift voucher or some toiletries etc
Anyway it was his birthday last Saturday and my mum had mentioned that what he would really like this year was some cash to put towards a new computer part.
I had already bought this cute House Mouse stamp with the intention of matching it up with Richard's jar of beans only now I wasn't giving him any beans.
The title of the stamp is "Jelly Bean Heist" so that gave me an idea....I put cash inside the finished card and wrote "Sorry, the mice ate all the jelly beans".
I hope he liked it.
The stamp was stamped and embossed with fine detail gold powder - this meant I could get away with not colouring so much of the image *however* I soon realised that Copic markers do not like embossing powder! (the nibs were starting to pick up the gold colour). I won't be doing that again but I did manage to get the colour off the nibs by scribbling on a bit of scrap paper so it wasn't total calamity.
The sentiment is Jane's Script by Woodware.
Inspired by Sarita's gorgeous card from her blog

Friendship

I made this for a special friend of mine.
The friendship text stamp is an old one by PSX - sadly the company is no more. I can remember really loving their text stamps and frantically trying to buy the full set before they were completely unavailable (travel, love, fairies....don't ask how much I paid on Ebay for the fairy text stamp!)
I made the card at craft club and unfortunately did not have my Cuttlebug with me else I would have used an embossing folder on the background, so I am not entirely happy with it (I know she will understand though)

My Mother's Dress

I've had this stamp for a very long time, I remember being so desperate to get my hands on it!
It's by Inkadinkado and is called "My Mother's Dress".
I've stamped it on Bazzill Bling cardstock and just added some ribbon and gems and matted it on silver card.
The sentiment stamp is by Magnolia - I like the fact that it can be used for a number of occasions and not just birthdays.

Happy Birthday

Miss Anya stamp coloured with Copics. The paper is from my stash and the sentiment has been stamped using Jane's Script by Woodware. I love the font used on this set of stamps and it is excellent value - £10.99 from Crafts U Love and you get seventeen or so stamps.

Waistcoat

Another old rubber stamp (Personal Impressions now sell this as part of a clear stamp set).
Stamped once onto plain Bazzill and then stamped again onto My Minds Eye striped paper and decoupaged with 3-d foam pads.
I used Cuttlebug embossing folder 'Goochie Script' and am so pleased they have made these larger folders - I just need more now!

Balloon

This is a very old rubber stamp, I'm not sure who it is made by (I think Creative Stamping?).
I coloured it with Copics and some distress ink around the edges.
The patterned paper is by Magnolia and I roughed the edges a bit with some scissors.
The self-adhesive gems are from Ebay and the sentiment is an old one from my stash.
