Christmas tags

Some of you will already know that I've been buying a lot of my stash from abroad just lately.
The upside is that it is massively cheaper, the downside is that sometimes the translation is...interesting...let's say, and of course I have to wait a bit longer for it to be delivered.

I had ordered some pale green and dark red organza ribbons for Christmas projects, waited five weeks, and when the order arrived it turns out they had sent me the wrong items! They agreed to replace the ribbons free of charge but the replacement order has now arrived...and is still wrong. I have a reel of pale green as requested but instead of red they've sent yellow, oh dear. It would be a bit churlish to still complain as I've paid less than £4 for the whole lot, 4 reels with 50 yards on each.

So now I have been left with cerise pink and bright yellow satin ribbon plus the yellow organza.  The satin is too thick for card-making so I'm going to use it for when I'm wrapping Christmas presents. I've bought some wrapping paper from Matalan that has pink and yellow/ gold in so it should coordinate.

I normally find that I have plenty of paper left over but never have enough tags so I'm getting prepared early this year and have been a busy bee.
I bought a tag punch from Stampin' Up! that cuts the scallop edge plus the little slot and it is open-ended so you can basically make the tags any length. I've got plenty of tag dies but I love just being able to get a punch out without having to use a die-cutting machine, it's so much quicker.


I had already bought some foiled washi tape (again from abroad) and I've simply used scraps of white card and edged them with the washi, then stuck them on scraps of cerise card, it's just coincidence that the washi dots match the dotty paper :)

I had also ordered some ombre ribbon, again it arrived a little later than I'd planned for and the colour isn't exactly the same as what I actually ordered but it's close enough. 

Box

Grrrrr, so I figured out the measurements for a box to hold a 230g bar of Dairy Milk....and Cadbury's have changed the size to 200g.
I'm sure it won't make any difference to the box dimensions but annoying that they think customers won't notice there is less chocolate!

So I made a smaller box to hold a different manufacturer's chocolate bar.

The box is made the same way as the one I showed the other day, just change the measurements slightly and it will hold 'ChokaBlok' 100g bars instead of Dairy Milk. The Dairy Milk boxes are made with a single piece of 12 x 12 whereas this one uses a piece of A4.

I find it easier to buy something (chocolate!) and then build a box to fit rather than make a box and have to search for something to go in it.
I use a Martha Stewart scoreboard if I want imperial measurements and a Stampin' Up board on the top of that if I want metric. So for bars of chocolate I lay them on some scrap paper, on top of the scoring board, and roughly score around the bar, from there I can work out approximately what the actual measurements are.

 For 'ChockaBlok' 100g box:  

Take a piece of A4 card-stock, stamp a pattern randomly if wished.
Score at 2cm and 4cm along each side as shown above
Spin the card-stock round so it is landscape and score at 7cm, 9cm, 20cm and 22cm

Cut away each corner and fold all score-lines inwards.

Add a line of glue or ultra-sticky tape as shown in red above.
Assemble box and tie closed with ribbon and tag.

Something quick and easy because I always leave family cards until the last minute.

Sentiment is computer generated and the car stamp is by Papermania.

My brother loves Sports Mixture sweets so as a little present to go with his main one I made this tag to match the card and tied it on a cheap glass jar (Lakeland have the jars in all sizes).

Flowerpot

The flower part pulls up and it does have a stand on the back (but unfortunately mine did not want to stand upright!)
