Box

Grrrrr, so I figured out the measurements for a box to hold a 230g bar of Dairy Milk....and Cadbury's have changed the size to 200g.
I'm sure it won't make any difference to the box dimensions but annoying that they think customers won't notice there is less chocolate!

So I made a smaller box to hold a different manufacturer's chocolate bar.

The box is made the same way as the one I showed the other day, just change the measurements slightly and it will hold 'ChokaBlok' 100g bars instead of Dairy Milk. The Dairy Milk boxes are made with a single piece of 12 x 12 whereas this one uses a piece of A4.

I find it easier to buy something (chocolate!) and then build a box to fit rather than make a box and have to search for something to go in it.
I use a Martha Stewart scoreboard if I want imperial measurements and a Stampin' Up board on the top of that if I want metric. So for bars of chocolate I lay them on some scrap paper, on top of the scoring board, and roughly score around the bar, from there I can work out approximately what the actual measurements are.

 For 'ChockaBlok' 100g box:  

Take a piece of A4 card-stock, stamp a pattern randomly if wished.
Score at 2cm and 4cm along each side as shown above
Spin the card-stock round so it is landscape and score at 7cm, 9cm, 20cm and 22cm

Cut away each corner and fold all score-lines inwards.

Add a line of glue or ultra-sticky tape as shown in red above.
Assemble box and tie closed with ribbon and tag.

 Another project from my SU classes.
This is the type of thing I just don't have the patience to make at home (I'd really have to be in the mood IYKWIM) so I'm pleased to learn at class.

This is a box to hold a tealight. We made the box itself from cardstock and a 'slide' lid from acetate.

We have used the Vintage Vogue stamp set a few times now at class and I liked it so much I bought it - I haven't took mine out of the box yet though! Keep thinking about using them and then putting them back....

This is the matching card. The right hand side of the card is perforated and tears off to be used as a bookmark.

I think I *need* this stamp set, love it.

Our technique this week (as well as learning how to make the bag) was the paper ruffle across the card, so simple to do.

I've loved all the SU projects we have done so far, what I really like is that we have been *mostly* using two or three core colours (pink, green, brown) each week and yet each project looks so different.

Handbag

This was the project we made at SU class last Sunday.
I loved this one. A handbag made from paper :)
When I look at cards I can *usually* work out how they have been made. Something like this I haven't got the patience to figure out measurements etc so a class where all that was figured out for me was great.



The double-sided paper meant we had a matching lining for our bags and there was even a little pocket included for a message. A lovely way of presenting some choccies or sweets (except this bag's mine, too nice to give away!)
We had time to make a matching card too, I'll share that next post.
