I love these papers, they're by Maja Design and the collection is called Miles Apart.

Friends of ours live in Wath-Upon-Dearne and we try to visit them once a year or so. I discovered that they're about ten minutes away from a wonderful craft shop called The Craft Box, located in a Heritage site in Elsecar (near Barnsley). It's well worth a trip, the shop has a great range of items and the staff are so friendly, they have amazing samples dotted about the shop, and they run classes.

We used to have some good craft shops locally but sadly over the years they've closed, so big excitement for me to go in a 'real' shop and be able to examine papers and match up colours, something that I struggle with online.

The alphabet dies were from AliExpress and the sentiment stamp is by Hero Arts. Card is 8 x 8 inches.

Thinking Of You

I don't actually like this all that much but thought I'd share it anyway.
It's the same flower stamp (Woodware) as on the previous post and I liked this card right up until I added the sentiment.

I'd stamped and embossed the flowers, painted them with Colour Cloud inks, then looked at it again the next day and thought there was something missing. Decided it needed a stamped sentiment (Hero Arts)...and then instantly regretted it. Never mind!

I'm trying to get back into the card making routine.
Seems like at the moment there is always something else that needs doing!

The card above started out as being taller and having scallops on three edges. I trimmed it down and used the off-cut scallops as trim instead. The 'enjoy' die is by Sue Wilson.

In my scraps bag I had some card that I'd sprayed with inks and never used.
I've added a stamped flower (Woodware) and a strip of vellum that I've stamped and heat embossed - I think the stamp is by Hero Arts but it came without any packaging (shop ex-demo)

In real life the inks are quite shimmery but the camera hasn't picked it up.

Glorious

I spotted a clever fancy-fold card recently on Pinterest, it's by Jan B, here.

My version uses an A5 landscape card-blank from Samuel Taylor's, and the front of the card is simply folded back on itself.  The 'z' band is folded exactly the same way just that it is obviously much narrower and it's adhered the opposite way round to the fold of the card-blank.

The video is very long at over 42 minutes but she is including all the measurements and how she has decorated her card etc.
I didn't bother measuring anything because I think once you have the fold sussed you can do it on any size card and then just mat and layer or whatever. The easiest way to get the band the correct size is just to trim a strip an inch down or so from the plain card blank after you've folded it.

For my card I've used a large Hero Arts text stamp, clear embossed. The sentiment on the band is by Woodware and the one inside is by Hobby Art. The flower stamp and punch are by SU.

Card club project, cards for men are always popular.

I've had these stamps about ten years but haven't used them in an age so it was time they were inked up again.

Waistcoat stamp is by Personal Impressions and has been paper-pieced.
Sentiment stamp is by Hero Arts.

Blue background card is Tim Holtz kraft and I've lightly sanded it.
Sentiment stamp is Hero Arts, I masked it off to use part with black ink and part with Versamark and embossing powder.

Watercolour background is distress inks patted on to an acrylic block and then applied with a water-brush. The white patches were made by small pieces of sellotape dabbed on and removed, it takes away the top layer of colour.

I struggled to get a decent pic of this card.

I've stamped a Hero Arts sentiment, covered with a self-adhesive sheet, trimmed to size, and then smothered with glitter.

Last week's project at card club, peacock paper is Bo Bunny and the scallop die is by Tattered Lace.

The sentiment stamp is Hero Arts and we used a combination of ink and a Whisper brush marker to get a two-tone effect.

One of my ladies has been making up some kits for the class to use; patterned paper plus co-ordinating card-stock, ribbons, buttons etc.

I buy the products from her and then think up the project. It is a novelty for me because at the old card club everyone made what they liked, since we've been at Tesco (November) we do a class project every week instead.

I'm still trying to get used to having a more structured club. I have to be aware that everyone needs to use the same equipment so it can't be anything too time-consuming in that respect, plus we need to have enough of identical materials so everyone can make the same card (which isn't always as easy at is sounds).

What doesn't take so long at home, when there's just me using the rubber stamp or the die, turns into something else entirely when there's twelve people sharing. Fortunately the ladies have been very patient and forgiving of my slap-dash style!

All in all I am so pleased we had the opportunity to move from the old venue. I do miss my old regulars who felt unable to make the move, luckily some of the ladies did stick with me, plus I have gained lovely new members. I'm very pleased to say our club is now full, I just need to think of enough projects to keep us going...

Pine-cone Tag

Another tag for the Papermill Direct challenge.

This time I've used Whispers markers to directly colour on to a Hero Arts stamp. I scattered some chunky embossing enamel over the tag and heated (from underneath to stop it blowing away) to create 'snow'.

The sentiment is a Papertrey Ink die that has been cut twice and layered for a shadow effect, and then glazed with Glossy Accents.
Faux stitching and a little distress ink round the edges of the tag to finish.

Originally I was going to make a card featuring butterflies, for a challenge.
Somehow the card evolved into not featuring any butterflies at all, it either looked too plain or too cluttered.
