Thank You

I needed to make a really quick card to say 'thank you' for an unexpected gift.

I took a landscape card blank and chopped off most of the front, just leaving enough left to attach a tag by Craftwork Cards. I then lined the inside with some ombre paper, again by Craftwork Cards.

Sentiment is a Memory Box die (please ignore the wonky 'k')
The card still needed something adding but I couldn't think what, I didn't want it to look fussy as I know the recipients like clean styles. In the end I die-cut their house number using an old Sizzix alpha, and stuck it on the tag front.

By the time I'd finished the card my new Altenew stamps had arrived and I couldn't resist using them for the envelope (wonky 'e' to go with the wonky 'k'...)

Christmas

I've been too busy to craft recently but am trying to get going again.

A simple card to ease back in, paper and tag by Craftwork Cards. I've just added some Glamour Dust and ribbon.
I need some Christmas cards for people who have been bereaved/ had a rough year and didn't really think "Merry Christmas" was appropriate, so I quite like the sentiment on this one.

I've made some lovely friends in the crafting world. One of them, Maria, sent me this card recently (along with emergency chocolate!) so thoughtful of her. She's always there when I need a whinge :)

Hard to photograph with the reflection of the acetate but the card blank itself is pearlescent gold and the other layer is a dark red-brown.

80

Made for a wonderful lady at my card club who loves purple and is celebrating a special birthday. She's taking it easy on the day itself by skipping off to New York for some shopping...hope I'm doing the same at that age!

I've used Nestabilities labels 22 to make the easel part. Basically you stagger the cutting plates on your Cuttlebug/ Big Shot so that only half the die actually cuts, then use the next size down and cut the complete die.
The '80' is really the only number that will work (apart from 88) for the 3D effect because you need to have die-cuts that are absolutely symmetrical. So if it wasn't 80 then I would have used butterflies or flowers or similar.

I cut three of each number and folded them in half (which is why they need to be symmetrical) then the first half of the first piece is glued to the first half of the second piece, the second half of the second piece is glued to the first half of the third piece. At this point I attached a length of 'invisible' cotton, and then glued the second half of the third piece to the second half of the first piece.
That all sounds a bit confusing but it's very simple to do, I promise.
The other end of the cotton was attached to the top of the easel and then a second die-cut (the gold frame) adhered to the card.

Birthday

Not keen on this one but I've been off doing my other hobby (climbing fells) lately and found it hard getting back into making cards this week. One of those afternoons where I kept pushing the same bits of card round for ages and just couldn't get it right!

Season's Greetings

Lately my mojo hasn't just left the building; it's gone on a round-the-world cruise.
I've found myself surrounded by stash sitting staring into space.
Can anyone give me a kick up the bum and get me started again?
