Stampin' Up

I think this was my favourite SU class so far.
Can you guess why?

We made the cupcake box - it does hold an actual cupcake and has an acetate liner so as not to get frosting on the box itself. I didn't make the cupcake, I bought the class one each (just so we could test them out you understand).

This is the matching card. Isn't that a great use of ribbon?
Our SU demo has such fab ideas, I never would have thought to make a pelmet like that.

Congratulations

This was for a commission - I was asked to make a card for a lady who was graduating as a GP.
Luckily I have a clear stamp set by Woodware that features a stethoscope, it's actually a 'get well soon' set but the customer just wanted something medical and this saved me having to buy anything new!

I made this for a tag challenge on the Waltzingmouse blog.

So, I used a Waltzingmouse Very Vintage Labels No.4 stamp and combined it with 'Season's Greetings' from the Very Vintage Christmas stamp set.
The patterned paper I have had ages and suspect it was a fill-a-box job. The snowflake is Papermania and I got the marabou feather from Ebay. I added some self-adhesive pearls and faux stitching.

I'm not happy with this one - it just doesn't look Christmassy to me!

Challenge

This is my entry for the SU challenge over on Clair's blog.
The theme this month is 'Starstruck'.
I have used Sizzix dies for the stars and SU punches and Oval All stamp set for the sentiment.

Stampin' Up

Number three of five from SU class.
I struggled to stamp straight on this one and especially did not like stamping the string at the top of the ornaments - it was a very thin stamp and the rubber was die-cut very close to the edge so hard to get a clean image (if I was at home I think I would have used a stamp marker pen rather than an ink pad).

I like this one because I already have the stamps at home and would not have thought to use them in this way. We used Pocket Silhouettes to make the wreath - a very versatile set in my opinion, we have used them a lot at class (I'm not on commission honest).

I just could not get the "Merry Christmas" to stamp straight on any of my cards! I think I was rushing a bit because I am conscious that we have to share all the equipment (that's my excuse anyway). At home I would take more time and perhaps use my stamp positioning tool - I would have liked to have stamped my branch further to the right also.

I made it as an entry into Clair's challenge. It was the first time I had ever entered a blog challenge and I am excited to say that I won.

Can you believe this - only three people entered. Clair is running a different challenge every month and is offering generous prizes so it's a bit sad that there are so few entrants. The winner is picked by a random number generator so each entrant has an equal chance of winning ( not a case that mine was the 'best' card at all, just that I had a 33% chance of winning last month, pretty good odds huh?).

Each month has a different challenge, the only rule is that your project must feature a Stampin' Up product somewhere.
If you regularly read my blog you will know that I love SU products anyway (I don't work for them, am not a demo, have no connection to them etc etc) and I am gradually building up a small collection of SU stash.

This month Clair is offering a £10 voucher to spend with SU.

Bird Houses

I saw this fab tutorial on Jo's blog.
Normally I struggle with measuring and cutting but these were easy to make because the instructions were nice and clear and simple.
The only change I made was to use ultra-sticky double sided tape instead of glue. If I use glue I tend to get it everywhere and normal ds tape will result in everything dropping to bits a day or so later!

 The 'hole' in the bird house is covered with acetate so these are suitable for putting small chocolates in. I made one in pastel colours and then tried a more Christmassy one, maybe use these for table favours on Christmas Day.

The small bulldog clips are by Making Memories but you can bulk buy unbranded ones on Ebay.

Stampin' Up

At our latest SU class we made six male-themed cards.

We started by stamping a sheet of white card using the Circle Circus stamp set and various coloured inks. Then, following measurements from our demo, we cut the sheet of card into several pieces, she called this technique "One sheet wonder". This one piece of patterned card made all six cards.

The card above is different to that taught, I just tried to make it my own a little bit. The class sample was portrait not landscape and used three brads instead of my two placed in a different way.

Challenge

This is for a challenge on Clair's blog.
The only rules are a Stampin' Up product must be used and the challenge is to use black, yellow and turquoise.
I thought that those colours wouldn't work with something too feminine but all my SU stamps are quite girly so I stuck to using two SU punches to make my own background. The 'celebrate' stamp is SU Wonderful Words.
This is the first time I've entered a challenge, there seem to be so many out there!

Wedding

The final of the three very-rushed wedding cards.

I used a Martha Stewart punch to make the vellum piece at the bottom of the card (I cut the vellum larger than I needed so I could tape it at the back of the gold card to attach it without showing any adhesive).

The sentiment is a K & Co. rub-on. These have to be among the worst rub-ons I have ever used.

Eventually the rub-on did actually rub-on but it left marks on the card hence me trying to cover them up with self-adhesive gems, grrrr.

I hate the placement of the gems and should have started again but by that point I was so fed up it just had to do!

Wedding

Another one of the wedding cards I rushed (see previous post).
I'm not sure of the make of the rose patterned paper but I do know that I have had it for many years! The pattern was a bit strong so I have attached a sheet of white vellum over the top to tone it down slightly.
Sentiment printed on the computer and some Martha Stewart punched butterflies to add interest.

Wedding

I recently had to make three wedding cards for an order.

I knew what I was going to do and ordered the stash necessary, unfortunately it did not arrive in time and then we had an emergency at home so I was very pushed for time.

I'm not happy with the resulting cards but here they are anyway.

I used HOTP swirl stamps to liven up the plain lilac card, the white card has a gorgeous gold sheen to it and has been embossed with my Cuttlebug.

Sentiment was done on the computer.

Sandra from craft club made it for me, she used Rubber Tapestry stamps.
Love it - the swags remind me of the flowers we had decorating the top table at our wedding.

Stamping Up Dasher

Quite simple, I did try stamping snowflakes over the background but it looked too busy, the plain one was better.

Stamp is Dasher by Stampin' Up and the ribbon slot punch is SU too.

The label die is by Quickutz and I have used a tiny bit of Glamour Dust.

The ribbon is SU and is just two pieces looped, the button glued on to the top loop makes the shape of the bow.

Vintage Vogue

This was the card we made to match the handbag on my previous post.
All products SU.
I think I *need* this stamp set, love it.

Our technique this week (as well as learning how to make the bag) was the paper ruffle across the card, so simple to do.

I've loved all the SU projects we have done so far, what I really like is that we have been *mostly* using two or three core colours (pink, green, brown) each week and yet each project looks so different.

Handbag

This was the project we made at SU class last Sunday.
I loved this one. A handbag made from paper :)
When I look at cards I can *usually* work out how they have been made. Something like this I haven't got the patience to figure out measurements etc so a class where all that was figured out for me was great.



The double-sided paper meant we had a matching lining for our bags and there was even a little pocket included for a message. A lovely way of presenting some choccies or sweets (except this bag's mine, too nice to give away!)
We had time to make a matching card too, I'll share that next post.

Wedding

This was a card that ended up nothing like what the customer asked for....
Sentiment is computer generated, butterflies strategically placed to hide random lumpy bits (think it was double sided tape showing through!).
Gorgeous shimmer paper is 'Elegance' by K & Co, charcoal grey card is fill-a-wallet. Border punch is by Martha Stewart.

Matching box, I left the silver thread untied so that the customer would not have to fiddle about with it ;)

Mini tags are stamped and punched using Stampin' Up Medium Jewelry Tag punch (US spelling for 'jewellery'!) and Stampin' Up Tiny Tags stamps

Not much to say about this one really :)

In a rush, as usual, so scrap of ribbon and some patterned paper.

Sentiment is an old one - I think from Clever Cut.

It's coming up to that time of the year again.
Yep, Glamour Dust time.
When every card gets a liberal coating of the sparkly stuff.

The top half of the card front has been cut away and the butterflies are 'suspended'. This reminded me of cards made by Paula Pascual, have a look at her blog here.

We learn a new technique each week, this time it was stamping on acetate, the butterfly has an acetate overlay (bit hard to see in the photo).

Latest SU class, I loved this one.

We made three cards using a butterfly theme.

This card was hard to photograph due to the acetate front so looks nicer in real life. All materials SU.

Marriage

I made this card at craft club and before I had finished it one of the other ladies asked if she could buy it from me. I think I would have liked some ribbon or some gems at the bottom but did not like to change it after agreeing to sell it in case she did not like the additions.

So, Martha Stewart punch for the border.

The vellum quote is from a very old book by DCWV, I found some of these books in my stash and am determind to use them up, attached with brads.

I have no idea who the patterned paper is by which is a shame because it's gorgeous and I'd like some more, has a lovely sheen to it.

Stampin' Up

This was last weeks Stampin' Up class so all products are Stampin' Up.

We made a card and matching envelope and also a gift bag.

I like these classes because we learn different techniques each time - it's not just 'cut this, glue that'.

Techniques for this class were how to mask and how to use a Stamp-a-ma-jig. The jig is a positioning tool so you can stamp in exactly the right place each time. I have owned something similar for a very long time (seven years and never used!) so I enjoyed this class especially.

Silver Wedding

This was a rush job :)

I had not realised it was my friend's silver wedding so needed to whip up something quick.

I used two Cuttlebug folders, both featuring hearts. On some of the embossed hearts I used Glamour Dust as a highlight.

The numbers and the silver hearts were both cut using Sizzix dies. The 'label' was cut using a Quickutz die - these are similar to Nestabilities but actually I like the Quickutz version better because the die produces a very thin frame (although this is a devil to attach) as well as the main die-cut label.

There are two little tags attached to some silver thread, this was wrapped along the spine of the card. I made the tags using Stampin' Up stamps and matching punch.

Magnolia

Spot the error - I did not get up to put a light on, pulled a card blank from my desk drawer and attached the rest of the card.

Next morning realised it was cream card blank with a white panel. Never mind.

Celebrate

 

I was complaining at my card club that I cannot sew in a straight line.

One of my ladies took pity on me and stitched some navy card with a paler blue, she gave me the card and told me she wanted to see what I made with it.

I embossed using Cuttlebug swiss dots folder and added some Sizzix stars and a Sizzix sentiment.
