Happy Birthday

Card is 7 x 7 inches

I've used patterned paper from my scrap bag. I stamped over it with a 'bubble wrap' stamp (Kaisercraft) using glue instead of ink, then added gilding flakes. I've used the same technique round the edges of the patterned paper too.

I've torn a strip of vellum to lay across the middle of the patterned paper, before adding the die cut sentiment (Sue Wilson dies).

Other dies are a butterfly by Memory Box, and the thin bow across the bottom is by Tattered Lace.

Sunflower

A recent project at the club.
We used ready-made side-stepper card blanks by Crafters Companion and the stamps are by Woodware.

We used Tim Holtz Oxide inks to colour plain white card and then stamped and heat-embossed with SU copper powder. The flower was stamped again and decoupaged (please excuse my very rough fussy-cutting) and we added some dots of gilding flakes and also some seed beads.

The woodgrain embossing folder is by SU. We used some gilding wax to bring out the grain effect.

I was trying to think up some new ideas for the club and realised we hadn't used gilding flakes for a while (probably because they are so messy!)

Gilded Snowflake

Seeing as the weather here has definitely turned Autumnal I decided to make a start on my Christmas cards.
I didn't want to pull out all my C-themed stash so just picked something from the first box I reached.

I've used an Indigo Blu snowflake stamp with some gilding flakes.
Normally I used gilding flakes with self-adhesive sheets and die-cuts so using them with stamps and glue is a new one for me.

The card was so difficult to photograph to show the gleam of the gilding. It's a much richer metallic colour than embossing powder and there was no warping which I sometimes get when I've used a heat gun.

The sentiment stamp is by Sweet Dixie (I chopped it in half as I wanted to stagger the words, really easy to do with clear stamps)


I like the gilding technique but I don't like the actual card!
I know who will like it though and it will be flat to post which is always a bonus.

My eldest brother's fiftieth birthday recently, I knew he wouldn't appreciate an obvious 'age' on his card but couldn't resist hiding it down in the right hand corner (Sizzix Block Party)

I've used Sue Wilson dies with gilding flakes. I'm not keen on using glue with the flakes, I just find self-adhesive sheets easier, and I've never bought the recommended scrubby tool, an ordinary pan scourer is perfect for the job (and cheaper).

Card is 8 x 8 inches, the sentiment is a Phill Martin stamp, I masked part of it before inking as didn't want the swirls featured.

Thinking about you

This card was too hard to photograph, the shiny surfaces were confusing my camera. In real life the colours are plum/ purple with silver.

It was made for last week's craft club project. We cut a negative shape using a Memory Box die and backed with self-adhesive sheet before applying gilding flakes.
Bit of a mess when we scrubbed the flakes off, leading one of my ladies to declare "I'm definitely not doing this at home!"

Sue Wilson striplet die. I backed the die-cut with adhesive sheet before covering with gilding flakes and then scrubbing off.
